Celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism

Contact Us to Discuss Your Day - 02 6685 6431

Baptism is the sacrament of initiation into the global Christian community. It makes the candidate a ‘Christian’, and not just an ‘Anglican’. Baptisms performed within the Anglican Parish of Byron Bay are recognised by our ecumenical partners, including the Lutheran Church, the Roman Catholic Church, and the Uniting Church in Australia.

Depending on the circumstances of the candidate, a period of personal preparation precedes the Baptism. For infants and very young children, the preparation is undertaken by their sponsors (parents and godparents).

For older children and adults, the preparation is undertaken by the candidate. In emergencies, Baptism may be administered without prior preparation.

Please contact the Parish Office on 02 6685 6431 to discuss your request for Baptism and to begin the arrangements for your preparation.

We celebrate the sacrament of Baptism at St Paul’s Anglican Church and Spirituality Centre, Byron Bay or at one of the nearby beautiful country churches: St Columba’s at Ewingsdale, and St Oswald’s at Broken Head.
